Steam SSO Plugin problem

Hey guys, sorry for posting too muhc, but I belive is better to make this separate.

I'm building a forum for mostly steam users and am using the Steam SSO plugin https://github.com/igorprado/nodebb-plugin-sso-steam

The thing is that if a user has some rare symbols in their steam name, the forum throw this error: /auth/steam/callback
Username not valid.

I belive this is because the plugin creates the username based on the steam name, so I would like if someone could help me so the plugin suggest the user to create a new username for the forum instead of the steam name, so this can be solved.

I got a report from a user earlier that they received the following error: {"error":"Invalid Username!"} When redirected back to the site from Steam. Creating issue here before I take a look at the plugin.
