@Oldfartrant Aren't you glad it has a name, too? Otherwise, he'd be cozying up to nameless furniture!

@drdogbot7 More like a raging river of misogyny than an undercurrent, isn't it? Putting anyone in a biological prison with claims that nature made them for this or that purpose β which the definer always presumes to define β is just so horrific.

@wdlindsy If they just tried pulling their heads' out of their asses and exiting their mother's basement for a bit, they might be able to get a date.

@wdlindsy when I was a kid mother always referred to the sofa as The Chesterfield, I guess she was a bit pretentious. This left me thinking sofa, couch and Chesterfield were synonymous, which they are but the brand name is a subset of the other two. This was hilarious when I went to the US and called their sofa a Chesterfield.

@Oldfartrant I love the term Chesterfield for what I grew up hearing called a sofa or a couch. I had never encountered the Chesterfield term until I went as a graduate student to Toronto in 1978. At first, I had no idea what people meant when they talked about sitting on the Chesterfield, but then I became enlightened!

@juliehuz For sure.

@CloudyMrs Yes, it does, and scientific research has been done repeatedly to show that the more homophobic a man is, the greater the possibility that he has hidden same-sex attraction.

@wdlindsy His little comment shows what trash he is.
#AllMen need to understand that girls and women have dreams and goals for their lives that have nothing to do with reproduction or weddings.
Many of us enjoy doing our hair, makeup, and dressing up when we're girls. It's not to attract boys. It's fun. We don't stop playing because we get older. Some of us are good at math, science, law, and medical professions. We enjoy working. We're #autonomoushumans -

"I am often asked when authoritarians hold appeal for societies. One throughline of this history is the perception of a 'crisis of masculinity' at times when women have made strides in society that are perceived and felt as injuries and threats to male authority. Up comes the 'strongman' to solve the problem by turning the clock back and restricting or eliminating womenβs rights."

"The sexism and misogyny of J.D. Vance is a textbook illustration of how women are conceived in a white supremacist patriarchy: as the givers of love, nurture, and, perhaps above all, children. β¦ We are human givers, not human beings, consigned to various forms of material, domestic, emotional, and reproductive labor."

"Here are five additional lessons about misogyny, courtesy of the sad, weird, mean men that constitute the face and base of the Republican Party currently."
1. Misogyny loves βgoodβ women.
2. Misogyny and sexism are frequently in lockstep.
3. Misogyny is deeply racist within a white supremacy.
4. Misogyny is a unifying, organizing, animating force in political conservatism today.
5. Misogyny need not be sincere, and it goes far beyond individual menβs attitudes.
