Is it modified Markdown?

Hi,
Does NodeBB use standard Markdown?
If so, is it normal that Bonjour<RETURN>This is test creates a linebreak?
In pure Markdown, it shouldn't.
Is it a slightlty modified version of MD ?

@Jos-Bas TO elaborate on @yariplus' point -- yes, we use a markdown parser, but with the following modifications:

1. A single line break in the raw text causes a new paragraph to start. This is an option that can be switched off in the markdown plugin.
2. HTML is removed (sanitised) for safety.
