@azeus thanks..got it
What Ignore button?
-
Upgraded my forum to 0.5.3 and now every category has a Ignore/Watch button at top right. What is it? And how does it interact with user settings of following one own topic and topic one replied to?
-
@Baerrus Yes that's it. You can follow a topic or ignore it. Same for categories.
-
Ignore just ignores that category, new posts in that category don't appear in unread for example.
-
Tooltips go a long way. It took me a little while to figure out what exactly it is used for.
-
This is ideal for users who just want to focus on certain categories and get updates via notifications about whats going on in those sections.
Helps clean out the notification clutter.
-
Why not have this button under thread tools? It is kind of in your face now. While the functionality is for the minority of users.
-
Topic tools are for admins and for the managing of topics. Not categories.
-
Ok. Let's say I have 'follow topics I posted to' checked in my settings. Then I go and post to a category where Ignore is set. Is my follow setting going to be overridden by this Ignore button?
-
@Baerrus It shouldn't, because following a topic will notify you of a new post in that topic, but that topic won't appear in Unread. They're two different features. Unless there's a specific check in NodeBB that I'm not aware of.
Wouldn't be too difficult for me to test if you need a definitive answer.
