the "New Developer" category qualifies if:
- Your entry is a theme and you have never released a theme before
- Your entry is a plugin and you have never released a plugin before
Don't forget, you can actually qualify for more than one category, and you can release multiple submissions.
-
It's a month long, and @baris @julian and myself will be more than happy to help where we can. IMO there's a ton of examples of plugins out there, just pick one and modify it a bit to do what you want
EDIT: https://github.com/psychobunny/nodebb-plugin-youtube is a good example, it was a really simple plugin I made a long time ago, since then we have had a ton of forks for dailymotion, vimeo, etc In the end @a_5mith wrote a better version of the plugin
-
Aww now it sucks even more that I have so little time
I'm aiming for the tshirtOh well, first entry submitted.
Edit: So what about the non-US devs regarding the Nodevember ticket

Which you don't use. you've said you'd help out. I'll give you 50% of the winnings if you build my theme for me. keep quiet about it though. wouldn't want anyone else finding out about it.

LOL what a genius you are. I was just going to create a new fake account and win my own money

Alright, let me have the try.

Awesome!
Is the plugin category the best place to see the list of existing plugins? It is a bit hard to find what is already implemented and what plugins are in demand.
Are there any other place I should look at to get a good sense of the current plugin scene?I am very excited. Will start hacking on my first plugin this weekend
-
@arasbm For published plugins the npmjs.org search would be best.
But most published plugins also have a topic within the plugin category.
If you're interested in what's on demand you most likely find it in the plugin category if the author wants you to know -
There's also this which is the API powering the plugin list in the ACP. It still has a lot of work to go, we put it on the back burner atm to focus on more important things. Eventually it will be located at
http://plugins.nodebb.org
and will be linked to this community for comments ala blog comment plugin. -
I just wanted to add that if you win the premium hosting packages, we will be more than happy to export data back to you to host on your own server after the year is up. Just let us know
-
@psychobunny I've updated Chinese version. https://nodebb.org.cn/topic/60/

Hmm hopefully I can get a decent plugin together by the end of the month. Some NBB gear would be neat to have. Shame I already released a "plugin" (to call it that is being generous), I'd prefer the odds of being in the newbie category

How can we participate ?
Lets try mine own plugin 0.0.1 release: https://github.com/svandecappelle/nodebb-plugin-charts
