“I’m so smart I became a bigot”

You couldn't define bigotry if I stuck a dictionary in front of you.
Besides, I'm not bigoted against people with mental health. I don't bring my views up to them unless they inquire after it, the same way I don't constantly remind a depressed person that I think they're depressed. I just don't think I should accept the personal behaviors of mentally ill people as moral truths. Being gay is not an immutable identity trait beyond reproach. -

If you were so smart you would look up the success rates of conversion “therapies” and all the horrific abuse involved.

While porn is gross and if you watch it you are messed up, that applies to nearly everyone.
If you're an upright person who only thinks about work (in other words, pleasing the shareholders), and never watch porn, I bet with 99% confidence that you're a boring person and uninteresting (to me, at least).

Slaughtering animals is gross and it's done on a daily basis.
Have you ever watched a video of an animal being butchered and dissected?

May I ask, what kind of research have you been doing and what "coherency" is there in thinking gay is wrong?
For example, if a neighbor (male) of you has a friend over (also male) to their apartment, and you hear no noise from them and see no pictures from them, you can have no idea of what they are doing.
In what sense would it be disadvantageous or bad if they had gay sex?

I don't care if a gay dude lives next to me or has gay sex. But that doesn't mean it is a sacrosanct identity trait beyond moral reproach.
As for the "research", I actually had a professor who did research at UCLA when I was pursuing my degree with neuroscience. We looked at brain slices of homosexuals and found massive distortions of key areas like the VMH and LH etc. which indicated severe sexual dimorphisms of the brain. He mentioned interviewing homosexuals and 99% of the time they either had extreme trauma in early childhood or their mother's underwent a period of severe distress during the last half of the second trimester. There was also a strong correlation between early pornography exposure and homosexuality. It was as predictable as clockwork. So its pretty safe to say that homosexuality is not exactly a "normal healthy" condition of the human mind.
As for why I think its "bad", I think it has a net negative effect on society as a whole but my issue with homosexuality goes much deeper than that. Your question is like asking me why I think "depression is bad". I don't think depression is bad per se (although it is a net negative on society). Rather, depression comes from something deeper and untreated. So to me, homosexuality is morally wrong, but mostly because it stems from a deeper societal sickness (such as sexual abuse, distress/trauma, and or extreme pornography use). And THAT is why I don't like homosexuality. Because of what it means is lurking in the background of society. It's a symptom of very big problems.

I don't watch videos of people slaughtering animals either, so... not sure what your point was with that.
And lol unfortunately, not all of history is wrong. They did have some things right, one of which being the consumption of pornographic material. I'm sorry you have a hard time getting laid or hard or wet so you have to resort to videos.
Also, shame on you for not considering the health of the models. The porn industry has massively high suicide and mental health rates. Your selfish consumption is exploiting naive or abused people. -

at least we agree on the first part. As for the second part, false dichotomy. You do realize there are other things in life besides porn and working? I love collecting art prints, going to museums, travelling, photography, taking dance lessons (recently the waltz), writing/reading, poetry, attending concerts and operas and plays, trying new foods, jogging, weight lifting, playing video games, hiking, watching movies or better yet GOING to the movies, arguing with people online and most importantly of all: actually HAVING sex instead of watching other people have sex.

I've already been converted. By fire and water and the spirit.

I did once. At Ross Lake. The weather was beautiful, it was a 50ft drop, and then SPLASH! I made the biggest splash. My friends were all jealous. We took turns jumping over and over again. One of my favorite memories.

- No RGB
I'm surprised to see this moved from the pros section to the cons section.

Exactly. Some things are just understood that we all do but we still don't share those experiences.
-
Exactly. I can't count the number of videos with a hot girl I've clicked only to turn it off due to the poor acting/annoying voice/fake moaning. Ever since I started being forced to watch without sound, slapping the snake has been better, have to say.

First of all, thank you for taking the time to type this reponse. It's interesting to hear other people's perspectives.
I heard somewhere that a lot of artists and creative people are people who have experienced abuse in their childhood/youth.
I'm not really sure, though, in which direction the arrow of causality goes. I guess it's more like: Creative people are more sensitive --> experience "normal" things more like abuse --> report later in life they were abused in their childhood.
Maybe I'm wrong about this, but I guess that's how it was for me.
Also, even if gay-ness was a symptom of a sickness, forbidding gay-ness would definitely not help. Rather, I think of it as "my body wants to cure me and gayness is the cure, not the disease. It is an unusual method to make me feel better and maybe process sexual experience and get into social connections. It's definitely not something that will make things worse." That's my idea, at least.

Yeah I thought that would be funny. Was it funny?

I appreciate you being respectful. Most people just assume I want to eliminate homosexuality via conversion therapy or some new Spanish Inquisition and they call me names and dismiss me. You are refreshingly calm.
I like your point about causality. That's totally fair and worth me revisiting my research, although I'm still very confident in my results.
As for your comment about "forbidding gay-ness" I totally agree. We shouldn't forbid it at all, and I never said we should. I just said I think homosexuality is not a normal healthy mental state imo and everyone flipped out lol and projected a ton. If you're gay, you're gay and I don't think that can change. But I do think homosexual behavior is a symptom of deeper social issues, and that if we treat these issues, homosexuality will naturally diminish just like my fever goes down when I take Theraflu. The fever isn't bad in and of itself within normal levels, its just a sign of something totally different going on that needs attention.
I'm all in favor of treating homosexuals the same as heterosexuals, not discriminating, watching out for and correcting misinformation like "AIDS is contagious by contact with sweat" etc., and just being kind normal people.
