err... have you defined a custom language in your user profile settings? Maybe that's what's different...

Looks like en_US is fully translated maybe needs to be pulled back to core https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/nodebb/language/en_US/

Interestingly, "cannot log in to new installation" wasn't made by me... Does it just show the user profile pic of the last poster?
