Overview of adding some javascript graphic

I know front end javascript but dont know much about nodejs.
I wanted to add a small animation to my website, and saw theres a place for custom js code in 'Appearance' menu.
so wanted to know the name of the Canvas object so could draw to it.
I thought to look in the index.html file but there isn't one.

In nodeBB which is the first place the code runs, how does it not have an index file, and is obtaining a variable pointer to the main canvas area something that is possible?

@eveh I don't think we use the canvas element anywhere in NodeBB.

You'll have to create one with document.createElement and inject it into the DOM.
