    How to migrate from test to productive and how to downgrade?

    I have set up a local instance for testing before I had access to the server and set up a lot of things there - now before going productive I am facing some questions:

    What's the best way to migrate from the test environment to the productive server? What I've done so far is:

    setting up nodebb and mongo on the new server mongodump the test environment and zip the nodebb folder in the test environment installing all the plugins on the new server

    What's next? Would it be a good idea to simply restore the db and dump the saved nodebb folder on the new server or is this having critical effects/not working at all?

    Moreover, I just noticed that the version on the new server is newer (v2.5.7 vs v2.5.2) than in the test environment. So I don't want to upgrade now my test environment so that worst case I can just use it to recreate the new setup. Therefore I thought about downgrading the new installation - but how? Simply download the previous version and then run the upgrade command again? Or is this minor changes not even noticable and I can try to ignore it?

    So many questions but there is not so much documentation available - at least those I find and understand as a non dev guy. Thx for your help!

    If you click clear index on the ACP page for the plugin and then reindex it should only reindex the category not excluded.

    @psychobunny Thanks a lot.The .tgz file from npm was really corrupted. I can use git checkout tags/v0.0.68 to get the suitable version.

     (at the bottom) but I'm not sure how to reinstall npm on the stack or if that would even help.

    I guess I should be developing Node.js on linux but so far I've been dual booting and I'm thinking about investing in like a Gigabyte Brix and having two monitors side by side (or even a KVM switch). I use Windows for graphics and I like Ubuntu for developing stuff and it's kind of my dream setup to begin with.

    Edit: After rolling around in bed and drinking some coffee, I manually inserted the lavender theme in the node_modules folder, removed it from the npm-shrinkwrap.json file (created a npm-shrinkwrap-backup don't worry), and tried npm install again. It seemed to work up until "[email protected]" saying "no repository field" as a warning. I had to ctrl-C because it was literally stuck there. Now I have a bunch of nice modules installed in the node_modules folder but I'm assuming not all of them to be able to get NodeBB up and running.
    Tl;Dr: npm is really not liking .tgz I think

    Edit 2: I screwed up the entire NodeBB installation by typing node app too early and rushing everything. I'm going to take a break and probably upgrade the Ubuntu partition I have and do everything on there. 😞

    Hmm... What's the problem you're having exactly. I've been running nodebb on a windows bitnami mean stack for a long time without any issues whatsoever. Just make sure you pick the latest BITNAMI version (sometimes they hide them in favour of older more stable releases), install git and you're off to the races 🙂
