How to send email notification if user receives a reply to a topic?

Hi Everyone,
I'm wondering if there is a way to send users an email notification if someone replies to their topic? I noticed in Settings -> Users in the ACP there is a notification option option which says: "When a new reply is posted in a topic you are watching". But does the user have to be "watching" the topic for this to work? Is this the setting or is there any other way to send user's a link to the thread to a reply to their post?

@daftcyborg There are settings in the ACP for what happens when you create a topic; I think it defaults to you watching the topic that you create. There are also some default notification settings too in the ACP. I don't know exactly where, I just know that they do exist.

@daftcyborg users automatically watch topics they create. So yes that notification option does what you want.
