Banning problem
-
@eesty Use a temporary ban. Just a min and I'll add a screeshot...
To get that dialog box:
- forum-url/user/offending-asshat-user
- Look for blue circle w/three vertical dots.
- Click on blue circle and select "Ban account".
As for moderator permissions..... not sure, seems like there should be a knob for that but seems I need a clue bat on that one.
Workaround would be:
- ACP/manage/privileges
- Add a custom moderator group.
- Assign offending moderators to that group.
- Deny ban privs for that group.
Good Luck.
Note: I am not updated to the latest and greatest so your mileage may vary. You get the gist though.

@eesty said in Banning problem:
I've some overzealous moderators who like to ban people for trivial things.
Can I stop moderators from being able to ban users?
Also, is there are a way to let these moderators put users on a timed suspension instead? Or something like that...
I know what you need it is "mute function for users". I know because we also need that. It works very well in big groups in Facebook etc. I think it will be a very great addition to NodeBB forums...
I proposed this a while back as a separate function than "ban" function. Banning is just not proper way to react in some cases, muting people could work very well in many cases and help to moderate big groups.
I would like to bring up this topic again:
