- First, why do we have a very tiny box, located at the very bottom of the screen, to type this post into? Is there a way to give us a big box at the top, or at least at the middle of the screen? I can literally only see one to two lines of what I am typing here, because of this very small box. Ah, I do see we can enter "zen mode" which is much better, however, in Zen mode I no longer have edit icons (bold, italics, etc.) at the top of the screen. I have to get out of Zen mode to see those icons. Is there a fix to all of this?
You should be able to either drag the little draggy icon on the left too expand the composer, or just click it to expand it to the top. It looks like Zen mode is broken for you, but it works fine for me. What browser are you on?
- What happens when we input a URL for people to see? Does it take us out of the site or display a preview? I'll try one here, this is a URL of a recumbent bike.
It depends on the plugins you have configured and how you link the video. You should be able to see a preview on the right when in the composer. I'm on mobile so no preview, but I think if you paste just the video link, it will turn it into an embedded YouTube video.
So my main problem is I can either use a very small box at the bottom of the page, with the edit icons displayed properly, or I can go to Zen mode which makes it bigger, but hides all the display icons. Let's see if I can attach a screenshot of zen mode here:
Yeah that's certainly broken.
Yes, the above is zen mode, you can see it puts the box at the very top of the screen while covering all edit icons. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. Any suggestions?
I don't think you're doing something wrong, but there's definitely something wrong going on.

OK yes indeed, that fixed it; I just clicked "the little draggy icon" on that made it perfect. Thank you @PitaJ

OK let's see, here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTuPUlq2fus&t=5s

All is well; I just won't go zen :).

By the way, does anyone know if "sound" for notifications is available in settings? I tried to change to receive sound but that was not an option. Thank you.
Oh, and P.S. it doesn't seem that the URL expands or plays the video right here on the forum, it takes us out to Youtube. Even when I paste the direct link, like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTuPUlq2fus&t=7s
-
Your url has a timestamp, that's throwing off the embed. Something to fix on that plugin. Try it without that:

Yeah it's at the bottom of the settings, but right now I think we don't have a soundpack enabled so none are showing up. I'll try to get someone to fix that.

@PitaJ Thanks for showing me that, looks wonderful to be able to post the video right there on the forum.
I don't know what a timestamp is nor how to post without it. All I did is go to Youtube and search for recumbent bikes, click on a video and then pasted the URL of that video in. Not sure how to do that without a timestamp.
But anyway, at least I know now that we can show the videos, not just the URLs.
I'm loving the functionality here.
Thank you!

I hate to ask this but can you tell me where to find these plug-ins? I have looked under "Plugins" and see "Plugin Development" and "Plugin Requests" but nowhere do I see where these plugins are found.

The easiest way to find them is to search
nodebb-plugin
on npm:
