privileges can be granted

Thanks a lot for your reply. Actually, I want Admin to moderate all the topics / replies by guests before they appear in the forum.
There's a post approval queue for that. ACP -> Settings -> Post -> Posting Restrictions

Yeah I know what you mean, the board index can get a bit cluttered with the masonry effect. A sidebar widget listing all categories would be useful. I definitely want to try a more "traditional" forum layout in my next theme design 🙂
