Is it possible to run NodeBB locally (e.g. localhost:4567) and run npm test at the same time?

That's correct, you set it up with a mock database, and npm test inserts its own testing data and cleans up after itself when it's done. No need to have NodeBB running for the testing suite to run.

@teh_g I changed the nginx configuration to what is displayed in the docs, which now works. Nginx is working fine and im using Node v.8.2.1 - I've tried using 6.11.2 which didn't work for me at all. It wouldn't let me use the npm install --production command without crashing, which 8.2.1 will.

So far I have installed and configured nodebb successfully and it is running on port 4567.
But I am struck with the last step which is configuring web server as proxy. My server is running on CentOS 6.8 and I am struck with Apache 2.2.15 . I can see that I need to follow below procedure .

The problem is I am very new to linux and couldn't understand the steps mentioned there. Searched online but couldn't find any article with detailed steps.

Can some one who did this already help me with steps / instructions. Thanks in advance.
