No mailer plugins show config page, at all

    I have tried every single mailer plugin, and enabled, and activated, and restarted/reloaded nodebb, yet I still cannot see the plugins configuration page at all.

    no matter which plugin I use for mailing.

    Please advise.

    This is all I see in the plugins drop down. No matter what I do, and I'm fairly dev savvy. I have tried 3 different mailer plugins, but nothing ever shows up in plugins config list.

    What version of NodeBB? What version of the emailer plugins? Are there any errors in the log?

    Were you trying to have multiple emailer plugins active at the same time?

    Hello PitaJ, thanks for a prompt response.

    I just came by to post an Update: I had given up until I got a reply from the gurus here, but then I discovered that I had closed my browser, restarted it, and apparently it started to show the new plugins in the config menu. That is strange.

    What can I do to test further if it his a front-end updating issue or something?

    I also read that on the blog you have stated since 0.9 or something, mailing is built into the nodebb program. I was trying to search more about this in the documentation but have not yet landed upon it.

    If it's not much trouble, could you tell me about this? I would like to get email working with the best advised method. Thank you.

    NOTE: I did not attempt to have multiple plugins on at the same time, as I didn' think it would be appropriate. It might cause issues, so I only kept one at a time and tested one at a time.

    I think I may have finally pointed it down to:

    After installing plugin, one must restart nodebb, then one must log out, then log back in, otherwise the menu doesn't show.

    Also, I use zohomail, which uses uses ssl or TLS, which mailer plugin would you recommend?

    Not required. Just restart and refresh the page after the restart is complete.

    The official plugin is the one maintained by the NodeBB team 🙂

    Other forks might add additional functionality or fixes, but it's up to the user who forked it to make sure the changes are transmitted upstream

    Plugin Using 'filter:register.build' hook | Is re-ordering the fields possible?

    I am wanting to add some fields to the registration page, so I thought I'd write a plugin for it.

    It looks like the process would be:

    Add a 'filter:register.build' hook function to insert the html for the extra form inputs. Add a 'filter:user.custom_fields' function to insert the key/value to the userData object.

    I looked at the spam-be-gone plugin to get an understanding of how to go about it, but my question is: Is it possible to place my added field(s) at the top of the form -- or anywhere else -- rather than the bottom?

    I can also do this by adding my additional html into the register.tpl file and then adding the key/value to the userData object in /src/user/create.js, but I'd rather do it via a plugin as it seems cleaner. I don't need the data to appear on the site (i.e. the user's profile) so just these two things work fine.

    The problem is I believe I'd have to do a 'git pull --rebase' each time I wanted to get updates for nodebb which could break things over time. Seems hacky. Plus, it is more maintainable to keep my modifications modular.

    So, is there a better way? What's the best way to go about doing something like this? I'm just assuming that doing it via a plugin would be ideal, but if there are better options that are clean, then please let me know.

    Lastly, if I wanted to have a function run a check on this info for duplicates during the registration (exactly like the one for username) can you steer me in the right direction on how I'd go about it?

    General OpenID login plugin development

    As far as I know there is not an official plugin yet to support OpenID Connect in NodeBB.

    If anyone is still looking for a work-able OpenID Connection option, we've built one for production usage but it should work with any OpenID Connect identity provider.

    Supports discovery using the .well-known/openid-configuration URL Supports configurable email claim, defaults to email Supports Logout URL Optionally map roles by a named claim provided in the Userinfo endpoint response Documented option to bypass the default login panel
