"At a rally this evening near Green Bay, Wisconsin, Trump said his team had advised him to stop talking about how he was going to protect women by ending crime and making sure they don’t have to be 'thinking about abortion.”'

Who knew the secret ballot was an attack on the sanctity of marriage. Women deserve the right to vote but it should exercised by ther husbands (or fathers) as god intended.

The reason they hate it so much is that they are looking at the early voting data which has women crushing men in early turnout and the polling they are doing shows a lot of crossover of Republican women. If it keeps going like this Trump is toast, so they are freaking out.

@mastodonmigration You are exactly right about what's fueling their freakout. Thanks for the better link. I'll use that one, instead.

@wdlindsy funny, I was just now thinking the exact same thing in reverse. If I was in the US, and my husband/bf voted Trump, I would be out of there. They obviously would not be prioritising my well-being. We would not be a team, he would not have my back. I would not feel safe with them any more.

@wdlindsy I thought that Harris ad was an homage to a 2016 Trump ad where the tag line was something to the effect of “no one needs to know who you voted for”. Can’t find it now, maybe I’m misremembering

It would be entertaining to watch if the stakes weren't so high.

Sorry, Fox and asshat conservatives, women have a right to think for themselves. Fuck all the way off with your nonsense.

@wdlindsy Well yes. Why do you think earlier generations of feminists and other assorted radicals wanted to abolish the marriage relation period?

"So many of the feeder streams into Trumpism well up from springs of reaction to changes in the status of women. Dobbs has made it plain that anti-abortion sentiment is primarily about control of women. Its supporters are indifferent to women dying, women risking death, women enduring pregnancy after rape."

"Because what Trump has to offer men is permission to hate women. Those women.
And the terms of that hate are not 'Women are taking away our precious cultural ideas about manhood!'. It’s pretty much 'Women are taking our jobs and our social power, women are doing better at most of what we have done, women are—without any malice or plan—unveiling the many cases where men have risen to the top on nothing more than mediocrity & a pair of testicles.'"

@wdlindsy @inthehands If your husband or church considers it “adultery” or “breaking with the church” to vote for the candidate that isn’t a rapist felon who wants to unburden you of even more rights, you’re in an abusive relationship. It’s long past time to leave.

Men don't need permission to hate women. That's the toxic masculinity our culture loves.Men need a get out of jail free card when they act on that hatred. That's what Trump offers.

Why are American voting booths so tiny? Dutch ones are big. You enter them and close the curtain behind you. Voting secrecy is taken seriously here, but not in the US with those tiny booths.

@wdlindsy It's *always* "jobs" , isn't it? They can pretend it's *economic* by saying "job" instead of "role".
American men, especially white ones, think their role defines them and so their anxiety is about women, PoC, trans people, queer people, or any other non-cishet white man occupying their "rightful" roles.
In general, men haven't built a stable sense of self that's not reliant on external validation.
