Wanted fedi resource: a list that's just "if an instance has blocked any of these instances, it's an utter clowncar you shouldn't even think about joining, and probably should move away from if you're there".

@ariadne @dalias (A lot of diasporic Jewish support of Israel is also because Israel spends a lot of money and effort on propagandizing diaspora Jews specifically, too, via things like Birthright and that stupid colonizer tree-planting bullshit. As those things get exposed more and more as propaganda, i have a lot of hope that more diasporic Jewish folks will realize what they've inadvertently bought into.)

I grew up in a Christian Zionist church. Can confirm that this is the only reason Christian Zionists care about Jews and Israel at all.
More specifically, many of them believe that Russia is prophesied to invade Israel, and that will trigger the events of the end time prophecies of Ezekiel and Revelation.
That is why they support Israel's war. That is why they support Russia. The more unrest, the closer they get to the trumpets sounding. -

@adrienne @dalias yeah that's why my grandmother bought in so hard. at one point she even proposed we *move there* during the Bush administration (oh the irony of an "anti war" person being zionist is not lost on me).
my argument always was "but oklahoma is just fine, and israel is likely even hotter than here."

@ariadne @julie @dalias Yeah, i think those are from Christians United for Israel. Which was founded by John Hagee (spits), who is viciously antisemitic in that way that manifests as philosemitism https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hagee

@ariadne @dalias I didnβt say that at all. I think thereβs plenty of valid criticisms of Israel. I do it quite often.
But this thread was, if i read it correctly, mentioning instance-level blocks, specifically dair, which is partly run by Timnit Gebru.
My point was that Timnitβs angle on AIPAC may be shaped by some things deeper than actual lobbying laws or Israel.
But condoning October 7, on October 7, is pretty gross from any angle.
