“Each appointment is part of a larger picture. Taken together, Trump’s candidates constitute an attempt to wreck the American government. …
However and by whomever this was organized, the intention of these appointments is clear: to create American horror.”
~ Timothy Snyder

“Don’t underestimate people you think of as incompetent extremists when they win an election. This might be a lesson that comes a bit too late.”

Wreck the American Government ?
Yeah I think that nails it
But like a Guy that likes speed, pushes the limit in a crowded street, crashes, survives, and has a whole lot of damage besides his NOW wrecked Ride ?
Trump & The GOP Madmen are going to be left with a miserable task and no one to blame but themselves
The Attack on Pearl Harbor hardened the American Resolve, we floated the sunk ships, buried our dead, and built new & better ones
Then we brought Hell to those that attacked US -

“The politicization of vaccines [signified by the RFKJr appointment that will result in plummeting vaccination rates] removes any ambiguity about the current character of American society.
Human history is not an unbroken line of progress. From time to time societies choose to disfigure themselves. A kind of civilizational self-mutilation.”

A good time to invest in iron lung manufacturers' shares
I'm being a cynic...it's a disastrous appointment...not just for the US, but for the world

@TCMuffin I fear so. I know someone my age who has been crippled since girlhood because she got polio before the vaccine came out in our childhood. That people want to go back to pre-vaccine eras is just mind-boggling to me. How stupid can we be?

@willow1958 Well-stated. And horrifying to think about.

@Arqtec As someone whose father was wounded in the attack at Pearl Harbor, I very much hope you're right.

@helderweb I share your sense of malaise and even repulsion about news coverage. I'm tempted just to withdraw. I've found it hard to take that path except sporadically following the election, though. Yes, really America?

@timo21 I have to admit having similar thoughts in the wee hours of the night as I toss and turn, sleepless.

Your Dad saw History
My 1st Customer buying one of the houses I built was a Pearl Harbor survivor
His Ship was sunk
He Ended up being one of the Investors in my Construction Company financing individual houses over a 5 year period until his death 1986
Don used to tell me stories of unbelievable horror as the Japanese attacked, his gunnery crew shot down a zero and he was really proud that he served America
