@radiophobicsherkpop Yeah, I've had Threads blocked for a while now. The company has absolutely not earned any sort of benefit of doubt, and the stance to "wait and see" completely ignores the documented history of their actions.
Still, the beauty of the fediverse is that we can organize in communities based on what's important to us, and what trade-offs we're all willing to make.

@edg Ah, just noticing that you're on Lemmy.
Seems like there might be some kind of a bug, this happened to replies to a post I made on Mastodon that somehow ended up on lemmy.world.

Might be worth reporting to your server admin, if you have the time/interest.

And to admins who are still on the fence, perhaps thinking that their community is too small and defederating would not meaningfully impact Meta's decision, here's a quote attributed to Jean-Paul Sartre:
"You don’t fight fascism because you are going to win, you fight fascism because it is fascism."

@stefan @stux @[email protected] For now, I'm keeping the "limit" I've always had on Threads in place on this instance. While I deeply dislike Meta, Zuckerberg, et. al., I don't dislike the people who use Meta. I don't feel slamming a door in their face because they use Threads is appropriate. I think discussion and discourse is the best way to change people's behavior.

@stefan @radiophobicsherkpop I pre-emptively blocked Threads, then let my users vote in a poll last spring. They went for the fedipact

Hmm, and now hachyderm.io. With a very detailed explanation.
"There’s no perfect “calculation” here, but essentially the long-term risk/reward ratio went from overall medium-high to very low because of how significantly these policy changes increase risk of harm."
