How do you feel about #mastodon not growing in usage/users as expected?

How do you feel about #mastodon not growing in usage/users as expected? I love the nice people here, but the lack of topic and specific users is pushing me to look somewhere else. I don’t like the idea of using multiple social networks.

@andreab I made a lot of good buddies over on Twitter, and Mastodon has given me the same feelings as early Twitter did. So, any lack of growth doesn't bother me so much.

Is the growth on other platforms due to bots maybe? I prefer quality over quantity.

@andycarolan @andreab I agree. I talk to maybe 3 dozen people on here regularly. That's enough. I feel like the bigger a social network gets, the bigger a target it is for trolls and bots (the bad kind - daily photos of clouds, yes please ) and advertisers.

If a specific topic or community you want isn't on here, then you can try and start it. Not easy though, I know.

@andycarolan @andreab Quite. I know I come from a place of enormous privilege - I'm white, cishet, male, middle class, etc so I don't get *anything like* the vitriol that others get and see but I could count on my fingers the amount of accounts I've had to block/mute in my two years on here.

On the other place, I was blocking multiple daily. It gave me the illusion of control over my feed but my experience didn't really improve and my mental health still suffered.

I think I've blocked one person on here. Twitter was far worse.
