The #activitypub plugin for Wordpress is still not ready for primetime, IMO.

@japipes then you might have to check your settings! There is a section where you can decide what post types you want to federate. If you deactivate attachments, it will no longer publish media uploads!

@japipes and I would not call it „crap“, because it is a requested feature and (as already mentioned) you can deactivate it!

@[email protected] if you think it's such crap, maybe you should ask @[email protected] for a refund.
Oh, wait.
Be nicer.

@japipes @pfefferle Hi, long-time tester of the plugin here. There are two general considerations to keep in mind:
The plugin can be made to work with all available WordPress post types. You can change this in settings to exclude the image type, so that they only show up in posts.
One challenge here is that Mastodon and other microblogging software renders the images as attachments, rather than inline images. This is unrelated to the plugin itself, but you can at least play with the settings to alter the output.
It’s a bit out of date now, and needs updating, but I wrote a guide a while back about how to do different things with the plugin.
How to Connect Your WordPress Blog to the Fediverse - We Distribute
It's now possible for WordPress blogs to use ActivityPub to talk to the rest of the Fediverse. Here's some tips and tricks to get started.

@pfefferle
Appreciate the response. I would humbly suggest that this option should default to off. Also, I had a look at the configuration page, and it's not super obvious to a novice like me which boxes I should check and which I should leave alone. -

@japipes it is off by default since some versions. Maybe you installed it before we changed it?!? What information might help you to decide what to enable and what not? We are always happy to improve things!

@pfefferle
Thanks for asking. If they had tooltips when you hover over them with a short explanation of what they do, that might be good enough. -

@japipes but isn't there a description behind "Media" in your settings?
Isn't that enough or can it be misunderstood?

@pfefferle
I'm going to try reinstalling the plugin, because I think you're right, I have an older version of it. -

@japipes always use the version from the WordPress.org repo, so that it will be updated with every new version. If you are using ClassicPress or any other special fork, you could also install it through composer.

@pfefferle
Would you happen to know how I go about deleting the erroneous posts from my feed? -

@japipes the images?
