I’m increasingly convinced that defederation of Threads will backfires against the instances that defederate.
There is a vocal, but small, minority of users who have very strict opinions on Threads, the Fediverse and Mastodon. But they’re a minority.
The more Threads will federate, the more users who aren’t part of this minority but have to live with the consequences of its demands will ask for a different direction.

@[email protected] while I hesitate to call it an echo chamber, but the fedipact discussions were very much like one because of the rather vocal nature of that minority, and the fact that if you really had no opinion, you didn't tend to vocalize it because it wasn't as existential of an issue.
Those admins are now finding out post haste what their user base really thinks.

@julian 100% agree. The vocal minority who pushed for defederation is a minority.
The silent majority, who was unaware of the discussion, did not care, or had no opinion, will be an even larger problem to deal with.
