@davidtoddmccarty Use your imagination. Talk about how politics affects their personal lives and those of their loved ones, for example.
Edited to Add: Right now some of the left is split so it is time to bring them together.

thank you
you, reading out there, listen:
#harris will push back against #netanyahu
while #trump will greenlight #genocide and gleefully build a hotel on dead #palestinians
i'm not engaging in hyperbole
this is trump's son-in-law:
"Jared #Kushner says #Gaza’s ‘waterfront property could be very valuable’"
Jared Kushner says Gaza’s ‘waterfront property could be very valuable’
Donald Trump’s son-in-law also says Israel should bulldoze an area of the Negev desert and move Palestinians there

@Snowshadow @benroyce I try to remain optimistic. I hope you’re right. I’ve spent my entire career in branding, which is the art/science of motivating people to do things. It’s always been a factor of heart over mind. Reaching people on an emotional level with good storytelling. But it’s incredibly difficult and we no longer have a reliable media environment to reach people.
IMO, you can’t change someone’s opinion on who to vote for, only on whether it’s worth bothering. Fear works best.

@davidtoddmccarty
So motivate them to get out and vote.

@benroyce Even if you are in the bluest precinct of the bluest county of the bluest state (I think I may qualify), get your ballot and *relish* the feeling of voting against the fascists.
Be like the meme of the cat slapping things off the table. Fuck this fascist, and that one, and this other one, oh, and all y'all in this deplorable basket, BYE BITCHES!
Indulge in flipping the bird to the fascists.
*fixed typo

Even if you are in a completely safe area, you can make a difference by VOTING EARLY, and adding your vote to the motivational narrative of enthusiasm for Harris!

Absolutely! And everywhere I know of has down-ballot contests & initiatives that need your attention. While you have that ballot, replace that whacked out GOP school board with some reasonable people. Shift your town council to a Dem majority. Vote down the anti-trans initiatives and vote up affordable housing measures.
Have fun being chaotic good!

@Snowshadow @benroyce unfortunate that their "winning" did not prevent Macron putting a member of the center-right in office, though.

so many people have this attitude:
"we beat malice, it's history. relax, job done, we're not going back"
yeah... it never was like that, it isn't now, and it won't be. forever
this isn't depressing, that's just life. the struggle is eternal
why anyone thinks it it is any other way- but many do
complacency
malice meanwhile makes gains quietly. until it can make them loudly
things getting kind of loud now, aren't they?
we need some of you to get off your asses

America, I'm sorry that it is so much worse that we've seen in a long time. The lies, the threats, the intimidation. The Q-anon, the alternate-facts, the doubling down when you call them out.
@benroyce is right, it is a fight .. it is an ever on going fight to make progress.
Don't skip this.
#vote !

Also, people I hear saying "I don't want to think about politics because it's too stressful".
My reply:
"It's because or people like you we are now in a political crisis, so set aside your anxiety and deal with it because if you don't it your life will be more than 100% more stressful. No one except yourself is going to save you or protect you from what a Trump win will bring.!" -

@Snowshadow @davidtoddmccarty @benroyce Fear IS a prime motivator and can be used proactively to drive voters to the polls. It’s called negative partisanship; political strategist Rachel Bitecofer detailed it earlier this year in her new book, “Hit ‘Em Where It Hurts.” The Rs have used it for DECADES. Bitecofer helpfully boiled down negative partisanship into a shareable image. Apply the strategy these last few weeks of #GOTV-ing! #HarrisWalz2024 #YesWeKam
