I want a modulator laptop with no soul.
-
@[email protected] X11’s time has finally arrived
-
@aud NO.
NO NETWORKS.computers are already Too Fucking Slow, I do not want anything that uses a network to add even one microsecond of additional latency
-
-
My NexDock keyboard is not amazing, so I can't vouch for it on that merit.
-
@[email protected] ohhh! yes, I see
I do love a 25/50 foot thunderbolt and/or hdmi cable, I must say -
@foone Would a better laptop with a decent keyboard solve this all? Maybe a thunderbolt egpu?
-
@TechTangents yeah it seems most of these lapdocks are just using knock-off macbook keyboards, which are Not Exactly Good (at least for my (programming) needs).
-
@Novyx yes it would. unfortunately, money.
-
@Novyx though it only mostly solves it: I need
1. power
2. good keyboard
3. less weightand those are hard to do if the whole thing has to live in the same box. Thus my thinking that I really just need a portable display + keyboard.
-
maybe I'll hollow out a dead thinkpad with a decent keyboard and turn it into just a USB keyboard+remote display.
-
laptop keyboards are a crime against man and god
-
Foone's law:
Of course 90% of laptop keyboards are shit.
90% of all keyboards are shit. -
if I see that engraved on a mechanical keyboard I'm going to beat the creator with a model-M. I'm mainly thinking of mechanical keyboards in the "shit" category.
-
why do so many of these have batteries in them. Are they supposed to charge the connected device?
-
I think lapdocks are officially not what I'm talking about wanting.
These things are superficially similar but they're also completely terrible by my metrics. -
@foone What about one of the non-wacom monitor tablets? Forgetting the brands at the moment.
-
@foone 90% of everything is shit. even dirt!
-
I need GOOD KEYBOARD and A WORKING DISPLAY
not batteries and the shitty keyboards -
wat? a laptop keyboard with a battery??
-
@diedofheartbreak 90% of dirt is shit!
-
@diedofheartbreak it's not a keyboard, it's a "LapDock!" so it's a keyboard + display that only works while docked to a real computer (or a phone) but IT STILL HAS A BATTERY for reasons that escape me
