Group Badge Not Showing

Our group badges are not showing for some reason. I tried removing myself from a group and joining again, but the group badge doest not show in posts.

In ACP, I have 'Show Badge' on the group in question and I have 'Private Groups' and 'Allow Multiple Badges' on. Anything else I'm missing?

Did you select which groups to shows in edit profile?

@baris can this be edited in ACP? I'm asking because we removed this from the template.

No each user selects which groups to display in their profile settings.

EDIT:

Now that it is set on my end, all users will see the badge now right? They don't have to go to Edit to set this on their end?

When you select the groups on your edit profile, all other users will those next to your username. If they want to display their own group badges they need to go to edit profile and set them up.

@baris , quick follow up on this. Is this setting set to false by default? Meaning, If a new member is added to the group, their badge won't show UNTIL they enable it in Edit Profile?

If so, is there a setting where you can set the badge to show as default?

I now use @nodebb/nodebb-plugin-user-level instead of group badges (but you might need another solution)

@dave1904 Thanks! I see the appeal of user level plugin, but we don't need a level system in our forum. I just need the group badges to show automatically as soon as a new member is added to the group.

@Teemberland I'm sorry it doesn't help in your case, but the problem has at least been known for a while, so we can be confident that there will be a solution some day

@dave1904 Yeah I really hope we can at least a have a setting set badges to show on or off by default.

I believe if a user joins a group and their groupTitle field is not set yet then they will automatically get that groups title. https://github.com/NodeBB/NodeBB/blob/master/src/groups/join.js#L93-L108
