Use forums rather than Slack/Discord to support developer community [mooreds.com]

An interesting article I thought I'd share with the crew here at NodeBB

@julian Well, duh!
Thanks for sharing some well put verbiage.
I should mention that w/nodebb you can have your cake and eat it too. Tail the knowledge here on community but for times when snyc, need feedback now, there is also #nodebb on libera.chat. Probably only me but hey, open to all and better than a sharp stick in the eye, eh?

here is also #nodebb on libera.chat.
Gotta love that IRC.
yeah, I really don't see much utility in temporal mediums like Slack over that of IRC.
On my phone though, I feel everyone's pain who isn't smart enough to install Weechat support so they're always connected, but other than that. IRC is lightweight, and simple and to the point - and ANY chat based system is temporal and the relevant info scrolls away (unlike forum software).
So yah, IRC is king in that regard, and if you wan't pretty pictures you can bridge your Libera.Chat chans with matrix so why is Slack even a thing?

@tallship Some of the "temporal" may be mitigated via use of a bouncer, e.g. ZNC. Bouncers remain connected on per account/network and channel basis w/configurable scroll back buffers, e.g. 70 - 300 lines.
ZNC is likely the best known ROSS bouncer. Cruises right along on even most minimally provisioned vm offered by this, that, or the other cloud provider of the day....
Feel free to reach out for additional help.
Have a groovy day, eh?
