Raspberry Pi Having 512 MB of RAM?
-
I noticed that the Raspberry Pi only has 512 MB of ram, is this by design seems pretty low tech to put so little RAM in to it? Or have they increased it? Anyone wanna explain that?

The Raspberry Pi is a relatively low-level system, sporting an ARM processor, so it is really not designed for heavy duty/memory intensive operations like encoding video, compiling software, playing games, etc.
It's great for small applications like controlling lights, sending signals, and... well, hosting NodeBB

If only it had more RAM then the possibilities would grater on a large scale.

It initially had 256MB of RAM, but they increased it to 512MB after the first batch. I had both but (obviously) sold my 256MB unit
The Pi is really meant for a learning environment and being a general mess-around device. It's marketed as that, but the community obviously wants to get the absolute most out of it.

The Pi is a pretty powerful piece of kit for what it is.
It has no trouble outputting 1080p at decent frame rates.Like @schamper said, it's main marketing was for a cheap device people can learn to code on.
It's the best cheapest xbmc machine I have seen. Probably the best, cheapest webserver too.
If it's not powerful enough then build your own raspberry pi cluster
