Any plans for newyear's eve
-
This new year eve I will be in NYC =))
-
That would be really nice too! Its on my bucket list! I guess i must fix some friends in USA! I have read that setting up a LLC in USA is possible for non-residents.
-
@jenkler Yup, I live in the states. I'm out in California now, but it is still expensive to go over to Hawaii, so not nearly enough trips there.
So, I think my two favorite things were Pearl Harbor and the Polynesian Cultural Center.
Pearl Harbor was more interesting than anything else. It might not be as cool as a non-American, but I think from a historical perspective, seeing how America entered WWII is insane. You can go out onto some of the ships still, and see some of the oil that is still leaking. It might be worth trying to get tickets ahead of time if you want to go into the ships there.
As for the Polynesian Cultural Center, this was a blast from a history perspective, but they had a ton of interactive things to do. My wife and I did the "Super Ambassador Luau Package" and it was well worth it. You get a guided tour of the entire center (which is huge), awesome seats at one of their shows, awesome seats for a Luau, and is overall a fantastic time.
Going into Honolulu is interesting to see some of the history, we didn't spend a ton of time there, but it feels a lot like any city.
The North part of the island is cool as well, there is a big surfing area that is crazy to watch, and depending on the time of year they have turtles on the beach (we didn't see it).
As for what I am actually doing on New Years Eve, probably loafing around :D. Maybe have some drinks with a few friends. I can't imagine going to one of the crazy events.

Thanks @teh_g for the tip!
I can say that Pearl Harbor is something that a non-American would like to see. That kind of history is for the whole world if you ask me
Hawaii is pricey but it is quite expensive here in Stockholm (Capital of Sweden) too I guess you get used to spend money Thats why we are in this type of business (Computer nerds)

It is hard to say Pearl Harbor was "fantastic", but it was a great historical memorial to a horrible moment in US history. I didn't go into the sub, but I went onto the USS Missouri, it was insane to go through the battleship. If you do one single thing, Pearl Harbor is well worth it.
I'd still strongly recommend the Polynesian Cultural Center. It was a wicked fun day. Tons of history, entertainment, and education!

New Year's Eve! That's quite a ways away, isn't it
Yes, Stockholm is expensive, holy moly... As a Canadian with a comparatively weaker currency (than both EUR and USD), paying 15 EUR for breakfast was sad.
I can get a breakfast with drink and a donut in Canada for like... $5
-
Yeah, New Year'e Eve it quite a bit away but i good to be well prepared when going for a long trip. Wow $5 dollar... Maybe I will visit Canada just for that
Her in sweden we have currency SEK. 8.37 Swedish Krona = 1 US dollar. Standard hotel price here is about 1000 SEK / night. so 41.86 kr for drink and breakfast is pretty nice.
Here in Sweden we have a lot of alcohol tax so a glas of wine is about 80-100 kr and a drink 100-150 kr depending on where you go
But hay, Norwegian is more expensive than Sweden I love to travel but its hard to find new cool travel friends
-
@julian the literally ripped you off. But who knows. Maybe its just the swedish standard.
My plans for New Year's eve:
Finally complete my twin turbo 2.5TDI block. Lets see if we can get it from 163HP all the way up to 400-600HP. If that will work, I won't need any firecrackers. -
Wow, 600HP sounds awesome
-
@jenkler this is nothing. I once met a guy with a 2l Golf 2. The car has 1233HP and is officially allowed to drive on our streets (German TÃœV is very exact about the regulations).
Maybe check YouTube for "Boba", there you can see him.

Cool I will check that out!
