Click reply next to user post expect a quote or mention

Hello,
Just a thought: a few times I have been reading through a longer thread, seen someone I wanted to reply specifically to, and so I clicked the reply button next to their specific thread post. I kinda feel like that should trigger an @mention of that person or a post quotation - probably preferably a mention.
I do like the reply button next to each post, makes it easy to engage users, but seems like it's missing the other half of the functionality to me.
Just a thought! Love it here!

I'd like to bring this up again, and request an extension.
In most old-style forums, quoting a post does not only add a reference to the user, but the quoted post as well, something like [quote post=#id]. This is slightly helpful for navigation inside threads, but really shows its merits in quotes accross topics. I'm not sure what a markdown variant of this would look like... something like @julian[postid] I guess. Maybe there is an established standard I'm not aware of.
I can attest that manually copying quoted text from one thread to another is something people commonly do in practice even when there is no proper workflow for it, which goes to show how useful the feature is.

@Valodim Posting a quote into another topic, posts a link to that post. Like this... However it currently doesn't do it when you're in the same topic.

EDIT: @julian, has the down arror vanished on the quote for you too? I quoted the full reply, but it only shows Hello on mine, with no arrow to expand.

It still restricts the user to do inline-navigation, as opposed to the multiple tab workflow most users are used to. Is there a reason not to show the link in inline posts as well? The post anchor is useful inside threads, too.

I think it's down to cleanliness. I'm not sure id want links to the original post if I were quoting the post above mine. However I can see why you would if you were in a long topic of multiple pages (assuming pagination was activated), perhaps if the post you're quoting is > 25 posts away from the post you're making, it could link to the original, perhaps
