The plugin is picky about what it embeds.

It wants the links to be on a empty line with nothing before after I think.

Lastest weird thing, on my site the youtube link is showing for a second as an inline video after posting, then it changes back to the url link! ??

Edit, a further blank line before link fixed that issue, as you suggested @baris

In previous years I cant recall which youtube plugin I used, but it wasnt this complicated!

I tried to install ns-embed plugin from Admin panel, it was there but install attempt failed saying 'not whitelisted'

So 2 questions;
Which is better to use of these 2 plugins to display youtubes?
And if both are installed which one takes preference on embedding the youtube link?

Another issue, clicking play on mobile opens the youtube app and starts playing there, it doesnt play video inline in the forum

Ok Im sensing thats the recommended plugin now, does that have any advantages over ns embed?

If Im correct @julian , you authored this plugin? Can it be made to pick up the shortened youtu.be links too?

You can enable the YouTube "special embed" from the link preview admin settings page.
