Customizing email templates

I have read all post I found about this on the forum and found nothing here or on the docs, so I am asking.

What is the best way to change some email text or templates?

For example, for the invitation email, I would like to replace the button text.
Is there an official way to do this that is not override with the next update?

I know I can update the translations, but I would like to give a look and feel to my project with the custom messages.

@darkpollo you could consider using nodebb-plugin-customize which would allow you to modify templates and language strings.
