If not, is there a way for a clean exit from the Fediverse?
Mastodon has a self-destruct option.
What is the process for WP? I looked, maybe I missed it.
There's no need for Fediverse services, like Mastodon, Lemmy, etc, to keep using resources, trying to get account info from a deactivated WP blog & have failing jobs

@[email protected] the way I see it, self-destruct actions are a matter of courtesy rather than contract. There's no control over remote copies of your content once you federate your content out.
To that end AP servers can always try periodically to reconnect to a "dead" account, in case it ever comes back.
