Anyways, I had to test on production servers to make any progress with Mastodon...

@julian This is the better answer. But I'll still count it as "testing on production" because it's a live URL that requires that *I* post a live server somewhere on the Interwebs.
In case someone needs context, ActivityPub Academy is a full instance of Mastodon with a debugging console that lets you see every inbound/outbound transaction. The website is: https://activitypub.academy
It's awesome, and I wish other servers had something similar.
