Weird, that fixed it. I assumed that since the URL was exactly the same whether I ran it with ./nodebb start or ./nodebb dev, it couldn't be related to cache. I suppose I just don't know enough about how caches work. Thanks anyways

Glad to hear. You might want to check your nginx is up to date as well. Nginx will still work with an older version, but it will act funny... Use this to get up to date: http://nginx.org/en/linux_packages.html#distributions
