I am not developer, but from my 8 years experience using all kind of php scripts i can say it sux. Dont get me wrong, there is lot of good stuff written in php for sure.

When i found out recently new technology nodejs, js, WRTC , i knew that is i looking for all this years. Fast, realtime, easy to understand, easy to upgrade.

Using php scripts, it was pain in ass, cause it was written bad and required lot of server resurces. Right now paying 600$/month for 2 dedicated servers just cause i stuck with some old php code on some high traffic sites. Not to mention that i was so limited with features i want.

I see no reason why nodebb should be in php. When i found it i realaized that is it. I gonna use it now for my social community project i have for years. Not ShareTronix, not shitty buggy PhPfox wich costed me 1000$ where i was limited with so many basic things. I should pay 200$ only to have simple chat which will have limit for 200 users.

Simple, I just love this technology .

@a_5mith tnx for replay smith. What we need is to have option for users to upload big images like 5mb, but we wanna display it in category listing as a smaller image, not whole 3000px image. So is there anyway we can get two images when users uploading it ? One with original size, and another which will be resized and showed under listing as many posts on same page.

And yes, it's being uploaded and hosted on our server.

@gaasg This will be good thing. On this way users can be guided trough some kind of funnel and in that way it can be reduced number of spam by alot.

For example to have introduce topic where u people will introduce and be manually or automaticaly approvde.

@Tanner I mean by changing default icons and do little bit of styling text position, color etc. Just to not be default nodebb.

Nice work, its kind of new view of nodebb. Still, do some changes on icons, styling text when the flip is done.

I like the suggestion and in my opinion should be done with Solr, cause i think it will give most relevant result.

This can help a lot, cause captcha is not kind of protection at all, cause there is alot of captha solver services.

Yes, definitely need. Also, each plugin should have link to post on nodebb or github with more details how and what is work.

I had 3 communities in my life. One which i didnt touch for 2 years almost have 40k registered members. From my experience, SPAM protection is one of most important things that every website should have.

The reason for that cause SPAM can kill ur site on many way, which already happen to me on other two communities i started. I was to lazy to solve the spam problem and i finished with 600 spam blogs created and each blog has spammed with so many backlinks to itself. That mean its not only problem on user experience side, but with SEO. CAuse that how Blackhat SEO works. They use our sites to get Tier2/3 links which will they blast with thousands of shitty links from WP comments and other.

And not to mention that it killed my server resources.

Anyway, @julian @baris and other guys should dedicate really serious time finding solution to at least minimize the SPAM.

@scottalanmiller I understand how its workts just didnt want to go in details it was just rough example . I mean, that was not even the point.

Still like i said i dont need kind of "schooled pro" who charge like he work in google. There are lot of young people who are willing to work for reasonable amount of money and in same time to do what he like and learn more stuff.

If i ever have company, it would not be problem to hire expensive i can say "pro" developer, but right now it's kind of strugling with what i can afford.

@a_5mith As I said its sick price for me. I know that might be someone who charge 1000$ per hour, but that is what i dont need.

Also, for me there is no sense to charge higher price only cause u dont have work. I dont know how its even possible to not have work as a developer/designer in this "internet time", only what it came to my mind is that you dont wanna work (dedicated time to something else) or ur prices are to high.

My point smith is that I am not the guy u are looking for. You are looking probably some firm/company or individual who have big budget. As i said few times, I have limited monthly budget and need someone who wanna learn, earn and code. That's all.

Didn't understand your point about they way, how 40$/h can cost same as 95$/h. Only thing it came to my mind is time delivery, which play role in my situation, but i would rather wait instead to get charged double.

@psychobunny I totally understand that, and i knew it from very same start of talking with Julian that the prices will be high, cause ur main thing is nodebb, and not some random guy who ask plugin for some small amount of $. Totally understand that.

@a_5mith "we charge $95 USD per hour" that is a quote from Julian, so freelancer i look cant cost that bro. With due respect for everyone works on nodebb and their own values, but for me that is sick price. I dont know how much u guys earning but 95$/h lets say u work 8h per day its its 760$ daily/22k a month. I think google emplyers and in some really really big companies have that salary.

In my city people are willing to do hard work for 100e per month, which is little more then 100$.

My budget for start is 400$ to integrate other .js library from github as plugin to nodebb. I am willing to work on long term for this cause i know exactly what i want, just need someone to do it.

Posting in "Plugin suggestion" is good , but for this i need someone to do it asap. I might post other suggestion there.

Hehe, I belive but like i said in previous post their rates are high for me ^^. I am not company or firm, just solo guy trying to make something for users.

@planner Guys this is a really must feature for beginners and nobos like me and other who dont know nothing about CMD commands. You should put it there as a basic thing in admin.
