I just found out about nodebb and found that also very confusing.
After a while I realised I had to click on "posted", but it's very counterintuitive.

I'm sorry but I don't like it.
Unless it's a user selectable feature, then I'm ok with it.
I think it's enough to be notified when mentioned, when I'm posting to a topic I don't necessarily need to follow it all the time.
Think about an offbeat thread, I might join in the fun, but don' t want to be constantly notified.

I think the way it works is good enough. If I want to follow a thread, I'll just push the button. That's it. It shouldn't be automatic.

That handy button which moves posts in different threads should be easier to use.
Instead of looking for the thread ID can't we have something like a search button so that we can look for the thread more easily?

Of course, you would have to introduce a "reply to" system like twitter is doing, so that you are able to follow a conversation.
