@thisismissem @esk Some things in sidekiq also use the replica. We looked at the most expensive and frequent SQL queries that do not *require* the latest data, and manually flagged them to run on the replica.Also iirc Rails disables the replica if the lag is greater than something like 10 seconds

@esk yeah, that could be necessary, and then we setup new nodes to replace the previous db server, and one to rebalance the other work on that server more evenly

Howdy, @tailscale! I'm a Hachyderm infra admin. We use #tailscale to stitch things together across clouds to make Hachyderm work. With yesterday's election results, in the event some kind of law were to be enacted restricting LGBTQIA+ content in the US, would we be in breach of the https://tailscale.com/terms and have our service terminated?If yes, what are our self-hosting or alternative options?#hachyinfra

@esk So this can probably be dropped, and if you can open a PR on the Mastodon repo that either heavily sample or maybe drop those single calls, it will probably get merged as I dont really see how those would be useful.

@esk @honeycombio am thinking it may have to wait until I've abstracted the eventsource connections out into a class that looks a bit like a websocket.Currently it's all inlined which makes it hard to isolate & handle correctly when to start the spans
