Through my ignorance, I can think of a single election in the past 15 years where the left greatly exceeded expectations at the polls: Corbyn's Labour party in the UK. That was on a fairly progressive program. To a lesser extent, the recent French elections.Every single other election, it was left wing parties trying to pitch "no change reformism" to people violently voting for any kind of change at all, and then failing to grasp why they lose every single time.

I’m all for finding responsibility in left wing candidates, but if someone can run on that kind of platform, using that kind of rhetoric and vocabulary, and that still doesn’t make them unacceptable in the eyes of the people… you can really just throw your hands up in dismay. And that’s happening pretty much everywhere.

Also, we're seriously beyond the "they came for the socialist and I said nothing" thing. That's too noble. We're at the "a wannabe oligarch screamed in my face he wants to be an oligarch and I couldn't even quit his shitty site" stage with some people.

Musk is the first outspoken rich guy in the West not satisfied with the usual de facto economic oligarchy our system gives to rich guys like him. Nope, he wants an all-around oligarchy where he and his pals can control every aspect of our society. The fact that he got involved with Trump and Trump promised him a position in the govt. is honestly the scariest part of Trump possibly winning.

I said this before, but the fact that self-described left wing parties argue whether sinking migrants boats or deporting migrants to detention camps abroad is an effective migration policy or not, instead or just calling it the abhorrent shit it is, is frankly mind boggling.
