My work has a fixation with "working meetings".These are video calls where multiple people get together for at least an hour, usually two+, and try and simulate an office environment where we're all "working together". I hate it. It's ableist, among other things. And when I say that I can't do them, it is because I have to read CC to participate and that makes doing any work impossible. Not to mention people trying to "collaborate" by sharing their 400 column 11-pt font terminal window in a google meet and expect someone to be able to follow on a laptop screen that makes it even worse. And then nobody learns how to collaborate remotely effectively through chat because nobody wants to make the effort or something.By the way, this is also how incidents are run. It is so backward from the advances that everyone in the industry is doing and it drives me INSANE that I have to just watch that keep happening because of power dynamics and imposed hierarchy.
