I call this style of yo-ying "Möbius Style" because it takes place inside of the slipknot that is usually tethered to your finger. For easy access, I like to keep the slipknot on my middle and ring finger, so I can quickly open up the loop. I created this style over 20 years and I love seeing the ways that other players have pushed the style since then. #yoyo

Last chance to see this 85 year old graffiti on the corner of Valencia and Cesar Chavez before it gets covered up again.@ihazrabies I think you were right. I took a closer look at the site today and think this probably is intended to be a walkway behind the building, which should allow visitors to get a very close-up look at the old sign (and graffiti). I'd guess this gap is about 4 feet wide.

Last chance to see this 85 year old graffiti on the corner of Valencia and Cesar Chavez before it gets covered up again.@ihazrabies it's hard to tell, but I think the rebar that is being lowered n these photos is about 2 or 3 feet away from the nearest building. I'm not sure if the final result will be pressed up right next to it's neighbor, or if there will be a significant gap.
In the architect's sketch, there is an intended pathway there, so I might be misjudging how close the two buildings will be.

Last chance to see this 85 year old graffiti on the corner of Valencia and Cesar Chavez before it gets covered up again.@soaproot I only saw comments about "needing to preserve" the ghost sign, and have not heard of anyone actually using that argument to fight construction. Thank goodness
Using historic is a common tactic to prevent changes though. Such as:
- A "historic" laundromat https://sfyimby.com/2022/05/san-franciscos-historic-laundromat-demolished-for-housing.html
- A "historic" parking lot in Alameda https://mastodon.social/@lmc/113153619513353053
- A "historic" parking lot in SF https://www.reddit.com/r/UrbanHell/comments/qmsfvq/a_historic_parking_lot_in_san_francisco_that_the/
- And even a "historic" bike lane https://www.reddit.com/r/fuckcars/comments/1ageudu/apparently_sf_bike_lanes_are_historic/Some folks have no shame.

Last chance to see this 85 year old graffiti on the corner of Valencia and Cesar Chavez before it gets covered up again.I'm really excited about the construction here, btw. There was a moment I saw some folks talking about getting the city to preserve the old ghost sign, but I'm much more excited about 272 new apartment units than the sign for some old car dealership. https://sfyimby.com/2023/03/plans-for-affordable-housing-to-replace-surface-parking-san-francisco.html

@docpop @vmstan My favorite jeans ever came from Self Edge. I had them fixed twice.@gregatron5 right on! If you bought them between 2006-2010, I would've been the guy who hemmed or repaired them. I used the same chain stitch machine on this selvage ipad sleeve that I was using on jeans for the shop.

Sometimes life hands you a theremin.@davidlantner thanks for the suggestion. There's also a great documentary from the 90s called "Theremin: An Electronic Odyssey" which you might also enjoy. It's on some streaming services, but you can also find bootleg copies on youtube and other places.

This old graffiti and a hand-painted sign for Mission Chevrolet were recently uncovered during the construction of a new apartment building. https://docpop.org/2023/12/new-ghost-sign-uncovered-at-valencia-st-and-cesar-chavez/ #SFGraffiti #SanFrancisco #MissionDistrict

I finally removed this Google Reader patch from my old denim iPad case. I haven’t decided where I’ll put it next, but I’ll post pics of when I’ve finished sewing.I finally removed this Google Reader patch from my old denim iPad case. This music video for "Big Dawgs" was filmed in the bottom of a Well of Death (Maut Ka Kuan in Indian).@exkclamation it’s a banger though, right? Check out his other video where he rides his motorcycle around Delhi for a few days.

Sometimes life hands you a theremin.@Unabart thanks so much for this link! Very helpful.

Sometimes life hands you a theremin.@Unabart rad! Thanks for the info. Do you have more info on the kit that you bought? I'd love to know more about it and see if it's the same as this unit.
Also, do you know what the knob in the front does? I figured it was pitch/sensitivity, but mostly it just adds a bunch of noise to the line.

I've been using some old iPods lately and really missing the hi-fi aesthetic of that era.@tekhedd oh, that’s probably a great way to think of it. Many of these devices had terrible speakers and fell apart kind of quickly. The Beoplay looks solid, but that might be the exception of that time. I haven’t tried one personally, I’m just looking at pretty pictures.

I'm especially into the look of these vintage Beoplay speakers from Bang & Olufsen. It's a shame that so many of these beautiful devices became obsolete every time Apple made a minor change to their proprietary cables, because the aesthetic of that era was fantastic.
Edit: I haven’t tried this unit myself. These pics are from online listings.

"New Mastodon accounts should be private by default."@tom @evan @Gargron I was going to mention that too. As a response to criticisms from law makers, users who identify themselves as teenagers on IG are now private by default https://www.platformer.news/instagram-teen-accounts-private-default-daily-limit/?ref=butts

We’ve made the hard decision to end our experiment with Mozilla.social and will shut down the Mastodon instance on December 17, 2024.@Blisterexe @mozilla I was assuming they'd continue to have a presence on the fediverse, but the part I was referring to is on running their instance and encouraging users to sign up there https://blog.mozilla.org/en/mozilla/mozilla-launch-fediverse-instance-social-media-alternative/

We’ve made the hard decision to end our experiment with Mozilla.social and will shut down the Mastodon instance on December 17, 2024.@mozilla this is such a bummer. I thought Mozilla's experiments with the social web were truly some of the most exciting (and sustainable) things Mozilla has worked on in years. Really sad that it's getting shut down so early.
