@ascentale @pete A3. I am terrible at doing cycle maintenance. I just stopped investing in learning when I got a disability that affected my hand strength.
What I do like, on the occasions I do it (rare), is cleaning the dirt off the wheels, frame, etc.
It's really straightforward and I rarely need to worry about doing it wrong. #BikeNite

@pete A3. I'm not great at it, but it does feel satisfying to do. My kid watched a how-to and was so motivated that she tried doing her own handlebars. She made it halfway before getting too frustrated to continue (in an age-appropriate way, I suppose)
I don't know if I like any other bike maintenance tasks enough to find them satisfying while doing. I guess most of the tasks are satisfying if everything works as intended afterward!

@ascentale @pete #BikeNite A3. I cleaned the drivetrains on my bicycles (for the first time... since I got the bicycles I own... over 30 years ago
) and it was VERY, VERY satisfying. I plan on doing that a lot more frequently, now that someone here at #BikeNite told me it's something I should be doing a lot. -
@ascentale @pete I object to the lack of filler piece a little bit
With cloth tape you don't need it, but if you're doing the same wrapping techniques to avoid it (ie. figure 8 and the like) on heavier cork tape it just looks so bulky around the bends! Adding the extra piece keeps it nice and consistent all the way across!

@ascentale @pete This is one of those things that about half the people in my last shop *loved* doing (myself included, I find it cathartic and relaxing), and half the people *hated* doing and were constantly frustrated with. I've heard the same from other shops; I dunno why.

@meganL @ascentale @pete there's nothing quite so relaxing as washing a bike, or as satisfying as seeing it sparkle afterwards I feel like! Nice day, soapy water, brushes, and a beer, and everything feels perfect in the world!
