Private health insurance should not exist

Insurance is a mitigation of a financial risk. If you buy a car or a house, you pay a premium to cover the risk of it getting stolen or burned. Both of those you can mitigate. Fine, and good!
But everyone will get sick, inevitably, and it’s simply not a risk that’s fair to mitigate financially. Since the rich will by definition be able to mitigate more.
-
Anyway, most people who have private health insurance don’t have it because they’re considering the risks of illness, they have it because it mitigates the certainty of the Medicare Levy Surcharge, which is another good reason private health insurance should not exist

Make me Health Minister and I will scourge these people, and hear the lamentations of their actuaries

Private health insurance is fiscal eugenics and should be illegal

@liamvhogan Yeah, I got private health at 31 soley because of the Medicare Levy Surcharge. The tax agent I used that year laughed and said I needn't bother.
Anyway the year later we found the brain tumour so everything worked out in my favour I guess.
