You remember these glasses from your last trip to #France, I guess. Hereβs the interesting story: Duralex, the manufacturer, was heading for liquidation. Investors that wanted to buy it existed, but they wanted to fire a lot of employees. So the court agreed to a different solution: create a cooperative, make Duralex workers owned. Now give them a hand and buy their glasses instead of the typical IKEA stuff, ok? https://eu.duralex.com/en-eu/collections/all-our-products

I just bought a bunch of their square food containers. Glass is superior to plastics, IMHO, and their glass containers are actually cheaper than some influencer-hyped plastic food prep stuff, so thatβs a no-brainer to me

@jwildeboer They don't deliver to although, technically speaking, it's definitely in the "geographical area". π₯Ί

@jwildeboer Must look out for shops that carry them. And I think they should consider purchising power...

@jwildeboer @dascandy the basic problem with duralex as a business in capitalism is that their products last forever so you donβt ever need to replace them.

@jwildeboer I've been having a hard time finding good juice glasses, like 6 oz. These are lovely, and come in many sizes. AND ship to the US for not much more than you'd pay for something shipped from here. They're reasonably priced too.

@frauxirah @jwildeboer
Sigh! Not the UK, what a surprise -

@jwildeboer I bought a set of these glasses many years ago and love them deeply. These are what glasses are supposed to be.

Are these the mythical unbreakable glasses I've been hearing about?!?

@float13 They are definitely not unbreakable, I can tell from personal experience But they don't break that easy, due to being tempered.

Why square? Because they are a good compromise between storage space used v content storage offered. Round is definitely more pretty on the table, though.

@julesbl @jwildeboer Yeah, and both our countries have but themselves to blame with some astounding voting behaviour. Not that this makes it any better for the people that voted differently. π₯Ή

@frauxirah @julesbl You βjustβ need to get Migros (CH) or Wayfair (UK) to add Duralex to their online shops β¦
