@beyondmachines1 This reminds me of the black fax attacks in the 90's (and probably earlier). To protest governments, people would send them hundred page faxes that were entirely black, which of course created a real cost for the department under attack, and kept the device unavailable for legit purposes.
Blindly letting outside people print anything out on your paper (fax or printer) is not exactly smart these days.

@ksaj @beyondmachines1 I came here to say this about the similarities to black fax attacks, which usually resulted in killing lots of trees and depleting your toner cartridge.

@briankrebs @beyondmachines1 Yea, the attacks usually ran all night, though, which is indeed a lot of paper.
Some fax machines used heat for printing on the treated paper (like a lot of receipts these days) but the black fax attach would easily burn them out, making it pretty expensive in multiple ways.
