Yet another pedestrian killed at a crosswalk.
I hate this.

@skinnylatte according to the unofficial stats on WalkSF.org, this was the 20th pedestrian killed by a motorist in 2024. San Francisco deserves safer streets.
-
@docpop @skinnylatte are the other deaths cyclists? I though we had passed 20 a few months back already?
-
@luis_in_brief @skinnylatte I believe @walksf only tracks the number of pedestrians that have been killed by motorists. I wish they included cyclists, scooter riders, and other folks who have been hit and killed by drivers too, but I think their primary objective is pushing for the safety of pedestrians.

@docpop @luis_in_brief @skinnylatte @walksf https://www.visionzerosf.org/maps-data/ has a monthly report that lists all fatalities

@elliots thanks for that link. I checked it this morning, but it was out of date (from August). It looks like it just got updated to include September, so it doesn't have the 3 fatalities from this month yet. It's still handy for the breakdown. For instance, I would have expected the vehicle-on-vehicle deaths to be much higher than they are. Looking at the broader picture, it's shocking how bad the pedestrian fatalities are compared to all other groups.
