-
@mastodonmigration thank you, but could you remove my account (I dont really write about urbanist topics), and maybe replace it with @rivoluzioneurbanamobilita

@mastodonmigration @mastodonmigration.wordpress.com Sorry, but this elaborate instruction demonstrates why so many even experienced Mastodon users find the interface too complicated.

@tor @mastodonmigration.wordpress.com
No arguement. This is what we can do now. Also hoping for better tools to follow groups of accounts.

The @mastodonmigration.wordpress.com account seems to be suspended.

@mastodonmigration
Let's create a starter pack for science, where we can include accounts such as @KnowableMag -
Not seeing that. Can you check it again? Perhaps something to do with your instance.
-
Have a list for Science started. Also one for Nature. If you have any recommendations, or better yet, would be willing to curate and administer the list that would be great.

I’m confused — I guess this doesn’t work in IceCubes. I don’t see a Preferences button, so the rest of the explanation doesn’t make sense. -

It may not. Don't know IceCubes. You can always log in to your account through the web browser interface, just to load these packs, and then go back to IceCubes.
-
@mastodonmigration We need that there one-click
-
It is in the works. From the information provided so far, it seems like it will involve lists, so the work we are doing here with Follow Packs should hopefully be transferable.

@mastodonmigration "Lists" is the magic word. I am happy I moved from Twitter/X to Mastodon but there is one Twitter feature that I wish would be added to Mastodon. I can and do make Lists on Twitter/X and Mastodon, but Twitter also lets me follow other people's Lists. This makes things very much easier. When Syria became especially newsworthy, there were specific Twitter Lists that put a spotlight on what is happening there. This is also true of other localities and issues, which have Lists.

Something along these lines seems to be coming. Eugen teased it a couple weeks ago. Can't find the post ATM, but it definitely looked like public lists.

@mastodonmigration
On BS starter packs are used to make harrassment lists. I would want to block anyone from adding me to a starter pack without my consent

Yup. The idea here is to inform people before they are added. Admittedly this is a manual process, but prior to publishing a Follow Pack, user's are notified and given the opportunity to ask not to be included. Anytime the pack is updated all members receive a notice, and are encouraged to request removal if they are uncomfortable with being included.

Completely agree that this is a tricky issue, and that we need to be very careful how we implement group follows. This Follow Pack effort can be viewed as a sort of laboratory for this capability, and lots of things are being learned. Very interested in user feedback.
