I’ve got $5 that says Starliner can’t make it home in a condition that would keep the passengers alive when it goes home empty.
-
@troublewithwords I bloody well hope so. No way I’d trust anything they put forward.
-
@octothorpe Nor should anyone. Recently saw that, between their late delivery and the decommissioning of the ISS, there’s only like 5 or 6 missions left for them to fly, not enough to even approach making a profit, and since Boeing is Boeing, they might hold the project hostage for more money or just kill the project and leave the US with one working crewed launch provider.
-
@octothorpe I fully expect Starliner’s return to be a total shit show. I’m no rocket scientist, but even I could see the launch was a bad idea before liftoff.
-
@troublewithwords this whole thing makes me irrationally angry.
-
@jgamet yeah, it felt like they green-lit it because they already sunk the money/time/effort into it. Literally a textbook fallacy.
-
@jgamet @octothorpe Oingo Boeingo
-
@octothorpe I think there are plenty of rational reasons to be angry about it. At least this time they didn’t manage to pressure anyone into making a deadly decision.

@troublewithwords totally, although I was coming from the idea that I don’t have any control or anything at all over this, so I’m not sure my anger matters/will change anything.
