@davidgerard They may as well argue that plagiarism should be accepted. I mean, I don't have the spoons to write much these days. Maybe I should just pinch someone else's work and run a find and replace on the names to pass it off as my own.
I get that some people think this is a buggy-whip issue. There were arguments against typewriters and computers and ebooks. But none of those devices replaced the actual words and stories coming from the author's head.
