Are you an early riser or night owl?
Waking up early
I've always been an early bird riser since childhood. We had no choice because we always walked to school. It was about 30 minutes each way and longer in the...

Why choose? I’m both!

@mookie You still young, it will catch up to you! I used to be fine sleeping four hours every night to function.

@jnv I consider myself an early riser, although probably not as early as you. But I am relative to my wife, who is more of a night owl. This conflicts sometimes. My energy level drops quickly after dinner. And when our 2 (young) kids are asleep I am mostly ready for bed myself too. (partly due to kids waking me at night and I can't sleep in anymore)

@nanders I understand, my wife is a night owl and still sleeping at this time! It's almost 11:30am here.

@jnv
Hey Jon, definitely also an early riser here. I have this weird thing where I wake up even earlier when I go to bed late... I go to bed at 10 and I can sleep until 6 or seven, but if I go to bed at 12 or later I'll be up at 5, dead tired but not able to go back to sleep. Very annoying... but yes, early bird here.I read the book "Why We Sleep" by Matthew Walker a few years ago, and he argues it's genetic. There's people who are early birds and people who are night owls (and some are in between). But if you're an early bird, you can't force yourself to be a night owl, you'll just end up being sleep deprived and miserable all the time because you don't get enough sleep.
So you're doing the right thing, accept that that's how you are and make the best of it.

@jnv early. I mean, 5:30 is early, right?

@82mhz My parents were both early risers so perhaps it is genetics. My wife's family is the opposite so makes some sense!

@pk84 Yes, welcome to the club!

@jnv it's strange, but I was a late night owl and, for a few years, I became an early bird. I don't know why.
During several months I was both, but I need 6 hours of sleep at least. I don't try to inverse it, it is cool start the day early -
@adele It was easier to be both when I was younger.
