With 9 people dead and dozens sickened in a Listeria outbreak from contaminated Boar's Head meats, CBS has obtained USDA inspection reports through a FOIA request. 69 separate violations in a single year. Horrifying violations. Read the article.
So, yes, that's bad on Boar's Head.
But WHAT THE HELL is the USDA doing? Hello? 69 violations and the USDA didn't shut them down? I thought the USDA was supposed to protect the food supply of the nation. Clearly, they are not!
Blood puddles, mold, tainted meat, bugs: Boar’s Head inspections are horrifying
The USDA recorded 69 violations in a year. So far, 9 people have died in the outbreak.

In addition to relaxed food and safety guidelines, I gather from other stories that the USDA simply DOES NOT DO ITS JOB. They are ruled by politics. They refer to the companies that they are supposed to regulate as "clients."
The USDA is in desperate need of complete overhaul and reform. US citizens are dying to see that reform happen. Literally dying.
